The Step To College Program is designed to promote
higher education among underrepresented students.
The programs is a collaborative effort between 100% College Prep and the Graduate College of Education at SF State to motivate young people in realizing their educational goals.
In the Step to College Program, students have the possibility to earn up to (6) college units while still in high school. Step to College students learn skills geared to support the transition from high school to a university or junior college.
Students receive university credit that is transferable to the CSU, UC, public and private universities of higher learning.
Part 1 Summer/ Fall - ISED 150: Orientation to Education is an introductory course of the SFSU Graduate College of Education’s Step to College Program. This course is designed to support the high school students early access to the SFSU campus community in preparation for admission into college.
Part 2 - Spring ISED 204: Critical Thinking is designed to help students develop their analytical skills in wise decision-making while learning the skills necessary to successfully transition from high school to college. It aims to help students develop these skills by teaching them directly and explicitly. In addition, it aims to teach these skills so that they can be transferred to all other subjects and studies as well as to everyday life. “Critical Thinking” is a necessary basic competency for many subjects and activities, and it is a general education requirement for all accredited colleges to receive a degree.
